Kate Carnell's bleating about ethics for ACT Ministers is a feeble attempt to distract attention from the woes facing her government over Olympic freebies Labor MLA Wayne Berry said today

"We know that Carnell Ministers are going to have a very nice time at the Olympics in the wake of the ACT Government's massive commitment of taxpayers' money to Olympic soccer and the disastrous Bruce Stadium project which included unlawful expenditure.

"No wonder Kate Carnell wants to talk about something else.

"When will the Chief Minister tell the Canberra community how many Olympic freebies are going to senior public servants? When will she tell the Canberra community how much Government instrumentalities are spending on sponsorship for Games events in Canberra and Sydney?

"I asked these questions yesterday, when will I get an answer?

"And on the subject of Kate Carnell's much vaunted ethical standards, what use are they to the Canberra community if they don't offer protection from Carnell Follies such as the Futsal Slab, Hall Kinleyside, the 'Feel the Power' campaign, the fatal Hospital Implosion, the Floriade fee or the Bruce Stadium Fiasco!

"What use are ethical standards when they endorse Ministerial behaviour which would have excluded Kate Carnell from a Howard Liberal Ministry such as ownership of a business and taking the ministry responsible for the regulation of her business and profession in the ACT," Mr Berry concluded.
