The fence is a symbol of how the Liberals have, over a number of years, damaged Floriade - the ACT’s spring festival and premier tourism event.
"After winning the campaign to get rid of the Floriade fee I am now going to get rid of this unnecessary and wasteful eyesore," Mr Berry said.
"We have had the on again, off again fee which led to a massive downturn in attendance, we’ve had uncertainty about the location for Floriade, and we’ve had that fence. It’s time to get rid of that fence.
"The fence only became necessary when the fee was imposed, now that I’ve got rid of the fee, we don’t need the $40,000 fence.
"Floriade developed into Canberra’s spring festival and a major tourism event without a fence, and it is held in Commonwealth Park which is open to the public 365 days a year. There should not be a fence. The $40, 000 fence is another example of the Liberals’ wrong priorities and mismanagement.
"On behalf of Floriade and all those hundreds of thousands of people who come to enjoy our spring festival I am launching a campaign to get rid of that fence".
