Holt Shopping Centre Make-over
Wayne Berry and Martin Gane, General Manager of Boral, demonstrate the water permeable paving installed as part of the project. The paving allows rapid water penetration into the underlying soil to promote growth in trees.
Last month Wayne launched the upgrade to Holt Shopping Centre. The upgrade is part of the ACT Government’s precinct refurbishment program and ongoing commitment to improving public safety at local shopping centres.
Features of the new Centre include:
- new ramps, railings, stairs, entry points and paths to improve access;
- tactile surface indicators to improve access for the vision impaired;
- upgraded lighting to improve safety at night;
- new seating, drinking fountain, bike racks and fire resistant bins;
- public art and new landscaping to enhance the look and feel of the area;
- a more welcoming courtyard for community activities and outdoor eating; and
- new signage and murals to mark the Centre so it is now more visible to passing traffic.
