Local Clubs to the RescueWayne Berry worked with local clubs to help save local group Hands on Studio. In an outstanding example of community support the Canberra Tradesmen’s Union Club, the Woden Tradesmen’s Club and the Canberra Labor Clubs came to the rescue with $9,000 to help keep the studio running after a funding crisis. Hands on Studio is a non-profit organisation which provides art classes for people in the Canberra region with disabilities. It has operated for six years providing classes across a range of artistic mediums and encourages people to use their creative skills. Without the support of the clubs this valuable program would have had to close. “I congratulate the clubs and urge the community to get behind the Hand on Studio and support it’s work,” Wayne said.
